The RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom is one of the highest-performing models in the GM line, and the 'RGM-79SP GM Sniper II' offers even more improvements and enhancements over the Sniper Custom.

Taking the improved capabilities of the 'RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom' and improving and enhancing upon them even further, is the 'RGM-79SP GM Sniper II'.

In order to oppose the increased performance of Zeon Mobile Suits, the potential of the GM frame has been pushed to its limits in this model.

In order to facilitate long-range sniping, this model is equipped with a specialized visor with high resolution laser sensors and a high-magnification electro-optical camera, and part of the armor is made from Luna Titanium alloy.   Larger thrusters are also equipped to provide increased acceleration, and beam rifles can also be utilized by this model.
The mobility, as well as the offensive and defensive capabilities in this model make it the highest performing model in the entire GM series, however due to the late-war introduction and high production cost, only a scant few were completed.
